Fallschirmjagers

I've always liked WWII figures, I guess it reminds me of the boxes of Airfix soldiers that I used to play with and paint badly when I was younger. I've got a bit of a love affair with Artizan miniatures too so I've been admiring their set of WWII figures for a while but its another period and another set of reference material I'd have to get; more expense! But after admiring the fantastic painted miniatures on the Saxon Dog blog ( http://saxondog.blogspot.com/) I couldn't resist any more. This still left me with the problem of reference for uniform colours etc.

In steps Artmaster Studios (http://www.artmasterstudio.co.uk/) and their fantastic visions. If your not familiar with Artmaster Studios then a brief explanation of who they are may be necessary. Artmaster is run by a guy called Toby and they offer a figure painting service; you can find his painted figures dotted around all over the web on various sites, Victrix (http://www.victrixlimited.com/) being a good one to visit to see his excellent work, or just visit their site. What he also does is video himself painting varies figures. This he normally does live on a Friday night, which he calls Artmaster Visions. He's also posted these video demo's on Youtube, (http://www.youtube.com/user/ArtmasterStudioTV?blend=2&ob=video-mustangbase) which is where I found his demo for painting a German Fallschirmjager ( a paratrooper to me and you ). After watching said demo I made a note of any paints a didn't already have and bought them along with some figures, the results of which you can find below.

Space Santa

I've been feeling ill all week but I've managed to get this Space Santa finished. Another one of my old Citadel figures I came across whilst rummaging around in the lead pile. I think he'll be heading for ebay now that I've had the pleasure of painting him.

Steve Dean Competition Entry

Well my Grenadier Giant was finally knocked out of the Steve Dean forum competition, losing to some beautifully painted 2000AD figures, so no shame there. To be honest once I'd finished painting the figure I wasn't all that pleased with it, but I entered it anyway. Very pleased it stayed in as long as it did considering the calibre of brushwork of the other entries. It was knocked out of the main contest by the Imperial Steam Tank but then got to the semi finals of the 'I was Robbed Mate' contest. I've really enjoyed taking part and I'm now looking for a miniature to enter in the next competition. Better luck next time.
